Sweden election: Professor predicts power shift in September polls
Johan Strang, a professor of Nordic studies at the University of Helsinki, predicts a change in government in Sweden following the upcoming September parliamentary elections. According to recent polling, the red-green bloc, led by the Social Democrats, holds a lead of nearly 10 percentage points over the right-wing bloc.
Strang anticipates that the Social Democrats may form a minority government supported by two or three other parties, which would likely see Magdalena Andersson return as Prime Minister. The red-green bloc includes the Green Party, the Left Party, and the Centre Party, though internal friction exists between the latter two.
Conversely, current Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson of the Moderate Party has expressed readiness to continue leading Sweden. A right-wing coalition would likely consist of the Moderate Party, the Christian Democrats, and the Sweden Democrats, who are now considered eligible for government participation.
