Sweden forms commission to prevent school attacks after fatal Fagersta assault

The Swedish government has announced the formation of a special commission to prevent future attacks on schools. This decision follows a deadly sword attack at Brinell High School in Fagersta, which resulted in the death of a 17-year-old student and left three others injured.

Minister for Education and Integration Simona Mohamsson stated that the commission will propose new security measures to protect students and teachers. While emphasizing the value of open schools, Mohamsson noted that the government must ensure unauthorized individuals do not have free access to educational institutions.

An 18-year-old suspect, who reportedly wore a helmet and carried a sword, was taken into custody after police opened fire. Authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the attack. The incident follows a series of violent school-related attacks in Sweden over recent years, including incidents in Örebro and Malmö.
