Prosecutor Adolf Moberg Oleszkiewicz noted the investigation is extensive, involving a vast amount of digital evidence and the analysis of seized items from the homes of those involved.
Following the attack, Swedish police have reported a significant surge in alerts regarding threats against schools. Susanna Bellander, the national coordinator for counter-terrorism and extremism, described the rise in reports as “tangible.”
As of September 24, 2026, a preliminary medical examination, known as a ‘paragraph 7 examination,’ suggests that the 18-year-old suspect may suffer from a serious mental disorder. This assessment will determine if a more comprehensive forensic psychiatric evaluation is required to decide whether the suspect should face psychiatric care or imprisonment if convicted.
