IMY launches Fantomapp to protect children on social media
The Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) has launched Fantomapp, a new application designed to help children and parents navigate social media safely. Developed in collaboration with children aged 10 to 15, the app aims to address concerns regarding cyberbullying, appearance-based harassment, and hacked accounts.
The app was originally created in France by CNIL, IMY’s French counterpart. It provides step-by-step guides on how to block unwanted contacts and content, as well as information on where to seek help if a user is targeted by bullying or hacking. Malin Blixt, a department head at IMY, noted that the app serves as a tool to facilitate difficult conversations between parents and children regarding digital safety and social media usage.
