Swedish heat pump sales jump 14% in Q2 2026

Sales of heat pumps in Sweden rose 14% in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, reversing a 1% decline in Q1. All segments grew: ground‑source (berg‑värme) units rose about 22%, air‑water pumps increased 14%, and exhaust‑air pumps added 4%. The surge is driven by a large replacement market as many installations from the 1990s‑2000s reach the end of their service life, and by newer models that deliver markedly higher energy efficiency.

Industry leaders attribute the strength to policy signals. The Swedish government has announced tighter indoor‑temperature requirements for certain housing as part of its climate‑adaptation effort, while the European Commission’s Electrification Action Plan highlights heat pumps as a key technology for reducing fossil‑fuel dependence. Anders Mårtensson, CEO of the Swedish Cooling & Heat Pump Association, said the market “continues to grow” and that heat pumps are increasingly seen as long‑term investments in comfort and efficiency.
