Swedish Royal Family: Jellyfish on Öland and Princess Sofia's return

Members of the Swedish Royal Family are facing different developments as summer concludes. On the island of Öland, where Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar spend their summer holidays, large numbers of dead jellyfish have been washing up along the shoreline.

Marine biologist Anna Wall from the Kalmar County Administrative Board noted that while the sight of dead jellyfish at locations like Bläsinge beach is unusual for this time of year, it is caused by strong winds, currents, and large waves blowing them ashore rather than a mass die-off. Wall stated, "There are many, many more in the sea. If all the jellyfish had died, that would obviously be a problem. But that is not the case now."

Meanwhile, Princess Sofia is preparing to return to her official duties following maternity leave. Her upcoming schedule includes an inauguration of an accessibility-adapted hiking trail in Fulufjället National Park on August 25, marking her first official assignment in her home municipality of Älvdalen in seven years. She is also scheduled to participate in a roundtable discussion with the Prince and Princess's Foundation on September 1.
