Swedish school facilities face significant budget deficit

A report regarding Swedish school facilities reveals significant financial challenges following extensive renovations and new construction. The school's total premises now cover 21,775 square meters, including approximately 6,400 square meters of new builds. This results in 22.3 square meters per student for the 977 enrolled pupils.

Rental costs for the facilities reached 36.4 million SEK over the past year. The new cafeteria is identified as the most expensive building, with an annual cost of 2,768 SEK per square meter. While the relocation of nursing education students from Polhem helped reduce the per-student facility cost from 42,500 SEK to 37,300 SEK, the figure remains significantly above the projected 2025 budget of 23,000 to 28,000 SEK per student. This discrepancy indicates an estimated deficit of approximately 12 million SEK.
