Swedish study shows high EV battery retention after 100,000 km

A Swedish study analyzing nearly 10,000 electric vehicle battery tests suggests that concerns regarding rapid battery degradation are largely unfounded. Using Aviloo diagnostic tools to measure actual battery health rather than relying on vehicle software estimates, the study examined vehicles sold in Sweden between 2022 and 2026.

The findings indicate that most vehicles in the study retained over 90% of their original capacity after 100,000 kilometers. The Kia e-Niro led the group with 97.25% capacity retention, followed closely by the Hyundai Kona at 97.18%. Within the European market, the Volvo XC40 was the strongest performer, maintaining 94.70% capacity.

Tesla's Model 3, equipped with a CATL LFP battery, retained 93.34% of its capacity. Other notable performers included the Audi e-tron, Škoda Enyaq iV, and Volkswagen ID.4, all of which maintained capacity levels above 92%. The study concludes that the fear of premature battery depletion is no longer supported by current data.
