Swedish suspects detained in Spain amid nationwide crackdown
Two Swedish men, aged in their 30s and 20s, were arrested by Spanish police in early July 2026 – one in Alicante and the other in Fuengirola. The older suspect is accused of inciting serious violent offenses and has links to an international criminal network; the younger man was previously convicted of a violent weapons offence in Sweden.
Both arrests are part of a broader effort by Swedish authorities, who have so far secured 165 arrests abroad on Swedish warrants this year. Police officials highlighted ongoing cooperation with Spanish law‑enforcement agencies and said the extradition of the 30‑year‑old is now under legal review.
Swedish police emphasized that the operations aim to disrupt organized crime networks with Swedish ties and noted that Spain remains a frequent destination for individuals sought by Swedish investigations.
