Swedish travel bookings rise as long-haul trips increase

According to the Ticket Collection report from travel agency Ticket, Swedish travel bookings for the autumn and winter 2026/27 seasons have increased by 5 percent compared to the same period last year. While European destinations remain dominant, accounting for 54 percent of bookings, there is a significant rise in long-haul travel.

Bookings to Asia have grown by approximately 25 percent, with Bangkok emerging as the most booked destination for the entire autumn and winter period. Thailand continues to see strong growth, while London has seen a substantial increase in popularity, with bookings rising by 55 percent to become the fourth most popular destination.

Economic factors and global stability are influencing travel choices. Although 58 percent of respondents state that the economic situation does not affect their vacation plans, 57 percent indicate that price is a crucial factor in destination selection. Travelers are increasingly adapting by choosing more affordable dates, better flight connections, and value-driven destinations. Additionally, 21 percent of travelers report avoiding certain destinations due to the current geopolitical situation.
