Swedish tourism and travel sectors are showing growth across various segments. During the summer of 2026, cruise traffic to Swedish ports increased by 9 percent, with passenger volumes rising by approximately 12 percent to nearly 650,000 people. This recovery in maritime tourism follows a period of stagnation linked to Baltic Sea security concerns. Notably, Nynäshamn experienced a cruise call increase of over 600 percent.

Looking toward the autumn and winter 2026/27 seasons, travel bookings have risen by 5 percent. While European destinations remain the most popular, there is a significant trend toward long-haul travel, specifically to Asia, where bookings grew by approximately 25 percent. Bangkok has emerged as a top destination, and London has seen a 55 percent increase in popularity. While many travelers report that the economic situation does not affect their plans, price remains a crucial factor in destination selection, and 21 percent of travelers are avoiding certain locations due to geopolitical conditions.
