Swim4Brains raises over 127,000 euros for brain research

Participants of the Swim4Brains event successfully crossed the IJsselmeer, raising more than 127,000 euros for the Hersenstichting (Brain Foundation). The swim proved to be a significant physical and mental challenge due to deteriorating weather conditions.

During the crossing from Stavoren to Medemblik, wind speeds increased to 6 Beaufort, creating waves up to 1.5 meters high. This forced the jury to intervene and require swimmers to temporarily exit the water for safety. Despite these conditions, participants completed the journey, including Jos Lavrijsen, who is nearly blind and was supported by four buddies during the swim.
