Amsterdam charity swimming events

Overview

The Amsterdam City Swim raised a record amount of over 3 million euros to support research into ALS and related neuromuscular diseases, such as PLS and PSMA.

More than 3,300 participants took part in the event, which featured a 2-kilometer classic swim and a 750-meter junior and short swim. The event included 12 individuals living with ALS and drew thousands of supporters along a canal route from Keizersgracht to the Marineterrein.

To ensure safety, the Waterschap Amstel, Gooi en Vecht monitored water quality following heavy rainfall to check for potential sewage overflows, confirming that water quality met swimming standards for the event.
