Swimming championships announced for New Zealand and Canada

The 2026 New Zealand Short Course Swimming Championships are scheduled to take place from 27 September to 1 October at the Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre in Christchurch. Approximately 700 swimmers from 79 clubs are expected to participate. This event marks the first time Christchurch has hosted a major Swimming New Zealand competition since 2010 and the first national championship in the city since the 2011 earthquakes.

In preparation for international competition, Canada has announced its 21-member squad for the 2026 Short Course World Championships, which will be held in Beijing, China, from 1 to 6 December. The Canadian roster includes athletes such as Mary-Sophie Harvey, Kylie Masse, and Taylor Ruck. Notably, world record holder Summer McIntosh and Olympic medalist Ilya Kharun are not included in this specific lineup.
