2026 World Aquatics Swimming Championships preparations
Overview
Preparations for the 2026 World Aquatics Swimming Championships in Beijing have progressed with national team announcements from New Zealand and Canada.
In late September, New Zealand announced the hosting of its Short Course Swimming Championships in Christchurch, featuring approximately 700 swimmers. Concurrently, Canada revealed a 21-member squad for the Beijing championships, though notable athletes such as Summer McIntosh and Ilya Kharun were excluded from that specific lineup.
By mid-October, New Zealand finalized its 11-member squad for the Beijing championships. The team is led by Erika Fairweather, Lewis Clareburt, and Caitlin Deans, the latter of whom joins the squad following a successful World Cup series.
