Swine Flu cases and deaths rise in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

Health authorities in northern India are monitoring rising cases of Swine Flu (H1N1) across Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

In Himachal Pradesh, a 64-year-old patient has died at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla. The deceased, who had underlying lung disease and pneumonia, tested positive for the virus on August 29. This marks the second death related to the virus in the state, with a total of 10 confirmed cases reported across Shimla, Mandi, and Tanda.

In Uttarakhand, the capital city of Dehradun is experiencing a significant surge, with 105 total H1N1 cases and five deaths reported. Recent data shows 24 new cases, including patients from other states. Health officials have also noted a simultaneous rise in COVID-19 cases in the region. Medical officers are advising citizens to seek immediate testing if they experience fever for more than three days accompanied by chest pain or breathing difficulties.
