Sanofi halts Amlitelimab development for atopic dermatitis
Sanofi announced that it will not submit worldwide regulatory applications for Amlitelimab, a candidate intended as a successor to its blockbuster Dupixent, because the efficacy and safety data generated to date are not sufficient. The decision, made under the strategic review of the pipeline led by new CEO Belen Garijo, follows disappointing phase‑3 results and concerns raised after isolated cases of Kaposi sarcoma in related studies. Sanofi added that the phase‑2 study of Amlitelimab in celiac disease will continue, with results expected in the second half of 2026. The announcement coincided with a roughly 2.5 % drop in Sanofi’s share price, but the company said its 2026 financial guidance remains unchanged. “This decision … was made as part of an ongoing strategic evaluation of the pipeline,” the company said.
