Swiss hospitality sees slight rise in July overnight stays
The Swiss hospitality sector saw a slight increase in overnight stays in July 2026, according to preliminary estimates from the Federal Statistical Office (BFS). This growth marks an end to a four-month period of decline.
The increase was primarily driven by domestic demand, with overnight stays by Swiss residents rising by 3.8 percent. In contrast, stays by foreign guests decreased by 2.6 percent. Overall, the number of overnight stays rose by 0.3 percent compared to the same month last year.
Despite the July uptick, the first half of the year remained negative, with total overnight stays falling by 0.7 percent to 20.3 million. To surpass last year's record for the full year, the industry will require strong performance throughout the second half of the year.
