Swiss investment in Mexico hits $2.3 bn record, plans $1.24 bn new projects

Swiss investment in Mexico reached a record $2.3 billion in 2025, positioning Switzerland as the sixth‑largest foreign investor in the country. The figure reflects reinvested earnings from 55 Swiss‑operated plants across Mexico, according to the Swiss‑Mexican Chamber of Commerce (SwissCham México). President of the chamber, Francisco Martínez, announced an additional $1.24 billion of Swiss capital slated for 2026, targeting the food, chemicals and manufacturing sectors. The new projects are expected to strengthen supply chains, generate high‑value jobs and reinforce Mexico’s role as a strategic export platform.

The investment surge was highlighted during celebrations of the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Mexico, with Swiss ambassador Pietro Piffaretti and SECO officials present. SwissCham México emphasized a long‑term commitment to innovation, sustainability and competitiveness in the bilateral partnership.
