Swiss utility providers announce electricity price cuts for 2027

Electricity providers in Switzerland have announced reductions in household electricity tariffs effective January 1, 2027.

Société Énergétique de la Vallée de Joux SA (SEVJ) will implement an average price decrease of 7.9% for households. The company is moving to a simplified structure that eliminates the distinction between peak and off-peak hours, as well as the base rate. The average final price is expected to drop from 29.44 ct/kWh in 2026 to 27.11 ct/kWh in 2027. While energy costs are decreasing due to market conditions, network costs are expected to rise slightly to support solar production and infrastructure flexibility.

In Yverdon-les-Bains, the municipality has approved an average electricity tariff reduction of 4.4% (excluding VAT) for 2027. This decrease is driven by optimized energy procurement costs and a reduction in network investment remuneration rates. For a typical household consuming 1,600 kWh annually, the reduction is estimated at approximately 2.40 francs per month.
