Swiss Women’s Hockey League reduced to seven teams
The Swiss PostFinance Women’s League will proceed with only seven teams for the 2026/27 season following the sudden withdrawal of HC Ambrì-Piotta. The club cited an inability to recruit a sufficient number of players to maintain a competitive and sustainable roster due to a limited national player market.
As a result of the withdrawal, the league schedule has been adjusted from 28 qualification games to 24 per team. This season will feature no playouts or relegation. The participating teams include defending champions EV Zug, Bern, Davos, Fribourg-Gottéron, Neuchâtel, ZSC Lions, and newcomers Lausanne HC Féminin.
In season action, the ZSC Lions women lost their opening match 0-2 against Davos. The match was marked by an injury to French national player Chloé Aurard-Bushee, who was forced out early after being struck by a puck.
