Swiss Women’s Hockey League season changes
Overview
The PostFinance Women’s League is beginning its 2026/2027 season with a reduced field of seven teams. This reduction follows the withdrawal of HC Ambrì-Piotta, which cited an inability to recruit enough players to maintain a sustainable roster due to a limited national player market.
Because of the withdrawal, the league structure has been modified. The regular season will now consist of 24 matches per team instead of 28, and there will be no play-outs or relegation this season. The top two teams will qualify directly for the playoff semifinals, while teams in third through sixth place will compete in play-ins in February 2027.
Early season action includes the debut of Lausanne HC Féminin and a match where HC Davos Ladies defeated ZSC Lions 2-0. The latter game was noted for an injury to French national player Chloé Aurard-Bushee, who was struck by a puck.
