Switzerland unemployment rate holds at 3.0 percent in August
Switzerland's unemployment rate remained stable at 3.0 percent in August, according to data from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). While the rate held steady compared to July, the total number of registered unemployed persons rose by 2,268 (1.6 percent) to reach 141,544.
Compared to August 2025, the number of unemployed individuals has increased by approximately 7 percent. A notable rise was observed among youth aged 15 to 24, whose unemployment rate climbed from 2.8 percent to 3.4 percent, a trend often attributed to the conclusion of apprenticeships and training programs.
In contrast to the national trend, the canton of Graubünden reported a significantly lower unemployment rate of 1.1 percent, with 1,242 registered unemployed persons. Meanwhile, the number of job vacancies reported at regional employment centers decreased by 3.2 percent compared to July.
