Sydney hosts 12th International Summer University on Greek Language and Culture

The 12th International Summer University, themed ‘Greek Language, Culture, and Media,’ is being held in Sydney, Australia, from September 6 to 11, 2026. The program aims to strengthen ties between the Greek diaspora and Greece by connecting universities and research centers through academic and professional networking.

Key initiatives include a session titled ‘The role of entrepreneurship in the dissemination of the Greek language – Bridges of innovation between Australia and the European Union,’ scheduled for September 11 at the University of New South Wales. The event is supported by the Hellenic Republic’s Presidency and the General Secretariat for Emigrants and Public Diplomacy.

During the event, Archbishop Makarios of Australia received a delegation of Greek professors and educators. The delegation, led by Nicoletta Tsitsanoudi-Mallidi of the University of Ioannina and Dr. Vasileios Adraktas of the University of New South Wales, was hosted at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Redfern. The visit included official meetings and a formal luncheon to honor the academic participants.
