Sydney Roosters face Sam Walker injury blow despite player returns
The Sydney Roosters are facing a significant injury challenge as star halfback Sam Walker undergoes surgery for a high-grade syndesmosis ankle injury. The injury occurred during a 26-12 loss to the Dolphins. While initial estimates suggested a six-to-eight-week recovery period—which would likely rule him out of the NRL grand final on October 4—the club stated Walker will work toward a return “as his recovery allows.”
To offset the loss of Walker, the Roosters are nearing the return of three key players. Winger Daniel Tupou is expected to return against South Sydney following a shoulder dislocation, while Victor Radley is pushing to return after a concussion. Additionally, back-rower Angus Crichton has returned to training following foot surgery and is targeting a return for the opening week of the finals.
