Sydney Roosters halves reshuffled for NRL finals

Hugo Savala will step into the halves for the Sydney Roosters in their upcoming NRL qualifying final against the Penrith Panthers. Savala will partner veteran Daly Cherry-Evans following an ankle injury to Sam Walker.

Cherry-Evans, who is set to move to Super League side Hull FC in 2027, expressed a strong determination to lead the team toward a premiership. He noted that the veteran players have a responsibility to guide the younger members of the squad during the finals series.

While Walker is currently sidelined, he is reportedly aiming to return to the lineup should the Roosters reach the grand final. This marks a significant opportunity for Savala, who has primarily transitioned into the centres this season.
