Sydney Sweeney reportedly frontrunner for Britney Spears biopic

Sydney Sweeney has reportedly emerged as a frontrunner to portray pop icon Britney Spears in an upcoming Universal Pictures biopic. The film is an adaptation of Spears’ bestselling memoir, ‘The Woman in Me.’

The project is gaining momentum following periods of uncertainty regarding its creative direction and Spears’ level of involvement. Jon M. Chu, director of ‘Wicked,’ is attached to direct, while ‘New Girl’ creator Liz Meriwether is set to write the screenplay.

While a final decision has not been made, industry insiders suggest Sweeney is a primary candidate due to her profile, range, and familiarity with Spears’ image. Other names mentioned in casting discussions include Millie Bobby Brown, Addison Rae, Bailee Madison, and Kylie Schultz.
