Symphony performances in Corfu and Ioannina honor Greek cultural heritage

On July 4, 2026 the Kapodistrias Museum in Corfu will host a concert by the Symphony Orchestra of the Old Philharmonic of Corfu, conducted by Alkis Baltas. The program highlights works by Ionian composers and marks the 250th anniversary of Greece’s first governor, Ioannis Kapodistrias. Admission is €10, with ticket proceeds supporting the museum’s cultural activities.

Four days later, on July 8, 2026, the Municipal Orchestra of Ioannina will perform in the open‑air hall of the Museum of Silverwork. The concert, titled “Dream of a Summer Night,” will feature Mendelssohn’s music from Shakespeare’s *A Midsummer Night’s Dream*, Bach’s Violin Concerto No 2 in E major, and five songs by Kostas Giannidis arranged for soprano Irini Dova and orchestra. Solo violinist Stella Tsani will lead the Bach concerto. The event is free to the public.

Both concerts are part of regional cultural programmes that celebrate Greece’s musical tradition and historic figures.
