Syria conducts Hajj lottery for 2027 season

The Syrian Ministry of Awqaf's Hajj and Umrah Department conducted the lottery for the 1448 AH (2027) Hajj season at Al-Furat University in Deir ez-Zor. Out of 71,257 applicants, the lottery determined the successful candidates across three specific age brackets.

Syria's total quota for the upcoming season is 22,500 pilgrims. This includes the primary quota, 525 pilgrims under a presidential grant, and 175 pilgrims under a grant from the Emir of Qatar. This represents a decrease from the previous season, which saw approximately 24,500 pilgrims.

A prior selection phase had already accepted 13,234 elderly pilgrims born between 1925 and 1958, accounting for 65% of the total quota. The recent lottery covered three remaining age groups:

- Group 1 (1959–1970): Included all born in 1970 and 1961, and those born in the first month of 1965. - Group 2 (1971–1980): Included all born in 1980, and those born between January and April of 1972. - Group 3 (1981–1997): Included all born in 1987 and 1989, and those born in the first month of 1990.
