Syria and Lebanon Sign MoUs to Boost Trade and Investment

Syria and Lebanon held a series of high‑level economic meetings in Damascus, culminating in the signing of memoranda of understanding between the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce and the Beirut and Mount Lebanon Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture. The agreements aim to develop trade, investment and industrial cooperation, create mechanisms for exchanging economic information, and establish specialized centers for data analysis.

Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al‑Shaar and Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Bisat said the new Syrian‑Lebanese Business Council will serve as a permanent platform for dialogue and follow‑up on joint initiatives, and that efforts are under way to remove trade barriers and facilitate business travel. The ministers highlighted that “the meetings have laid the groundwork for practical cooperation in several sectors.” The roundtable also discussed finalising additional MoUs and promoting joint economic events, reflecting a broader shift toward deeper bilateral economic ties.

Both sides emphasized that the cooperation will support decision‑making, improve economic efficiency and contribute to stability and prosperity in the two neighboring countries.
