Syria dismantles international drug network and seizes Captagon pills
Syrian authorities have intensified anti-narcotics operations throughout October, reporting significant seizures of Captagon pills and the dismantling of international smuggling networks.
On October 16, the Drug Enforcement Department announced the dismantling of a trafficking network operating between Lebanon and the Damascus countryside. The operation resulted in the seizure of 91,000 Captagon pills and the arrest of three key members of the network. This follows a separate seizure on October 15, where authorities intercepted 87,000 Captagon pills intended for trafficking.
Broader efforts in the first half of October saw the Interior Ministry’s Anti-Narcotics Department seize approximately 2.2 million Captagon pills. Other notable operations include the interception of 395,000 pills at the Jdeidet Yabous border crossing and a seizure of 8 kilograms of hashish in the Aleppo countryside near the Turkish border.
