Syria gas pipeline hit by explosion in Hasakah province
An explosion struck the Al-Jabsa gas pipeline in the Al-Arbeidi area of southern Hasakah province, northeastern Syria, on Thursday. The blast ignited a fire and marks the fourth attack on the country’s energy infrastructure in recent months.
State-owned Syrian Petroleum Co. reported that emergency teams isolated the affected section and shut off valves on both sides of the blast site to contain the fire. Security and firefighting personnel have secured the area, though the full extent of the damage and potential disruptions to gas supplies remain unclear. No group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
This attack follows a series of suspected sabotage incidents targeting Syria’s energy sector. Previous attacks include an oil pipeline damaged near Tal Hamis on October 7, an explosion near Al-Shoula in Deir Ezzor on September 28 that halted gas supplies to power stations, and another explosion on the Al-Jabsa gas export pipeline in August.
