Syrian Airlines expands European network with new direct flights
Syrian Airlines has begun expanding its direct flight network to Europe, marking a significant reconnection for Syrian civil aviation. The carrier launched direct service from Damascus International Airport to Copenhagen, Denmark, on September 21, with flights to Vienna, Austria, scheduled to follow on September 22.
Omar Al Hosari, President of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Air Transport, stated that these new routes aim to strengthen direct air links between Syria and Europe. This expansion is intended to provide more travel options, particularly for Syrians living in Europe, while reducing the need for costly and time-consuming transit through neighboring hubs like Beirut, Istanbul, or Amman.
With the addition of Copenhagen and Vienna, Syrian Airlines now operates three primary European destinations, including Amsterdam. Al Hosari indicated that the airline is working to add further regional and European destinations, noting that Germany may be announced soon, followed by potential routes to France.
