Syrian Petroleum Company reports pipeline damage in Homs and Hasakah
The Syrian Petroleum Company reported two separate incidents involving energy infrastructure. In the Hadida area west of Homs, an oil products pipeline transporting fuel from Baniyas to Homs was punctured. Officials stated the damage was likely caused by an attempted fuel theft involving the installation of a three-inch valve on the 24-inch main line. The leak resulted in the closure of the Homs-Tartus highway, forcing traffic onto alternative routes. During repair efforts, three workers were hospitalized due to asphyxiation despite using protective gear.
In southern Hasakah province, an explosion struck the Jbessa gas export pipeline. The company characterized the Hasakah incident as a sabotage attack. While these disruptions occurred, the company maintained that domestic gas supplies remain unaffected and that power stations will continue to receive gas through alternative arrangements. Technical teams have worked to isolate the damaged sections and reduce pressure to facilitate permanent repairs.
