Syrian security forces thwart ISIS plot against police patrol

Syrian security forces, including the General Intelligence Directorate and Internal Security Forces, have thwarted a plot by an ISIS cell to target a police patrol in the Rif Dimashq countryside. During a preemptive security operation, authorities arrested two individuals, identified only by their initials, and seized an explosive device prepared for detonation.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the cell's connections and the specific timing of the planned attack. This operation follows recent security actions against ISIS-linked cells in Syria, including the dismantling of a cell in the Al-Houla area of Homs earlier in October and the arrest of a high-ranking operative in the Damascus countryside.
