Syrian security operations against ISIS cells

Overview

Syrian security forces, including the General Intelligence Service and Internal Security Forces, have conducted several operations to dismantle Islamic State (ISIS) cells across multiple provinces.

In late September, authorities dismantled a cell operating in Raqqa, Aleppo, Idlib, and Homs. This group, which originated in Raqqa, was linked to kidnappings, assassinations, and the preparation of explosives. Security forces arrested four cell leaders and seized weapons and ammunition intended to destabilize the region.

By mid-October, security operations continued with the thwarting of a plot targeting a police patrol in the Rif Dimashq countryside. This operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of an explosive device. These actions followed other recent security measures, including the dismantling of a cell in the Al-Houla area of Homs and the arrest of a high-ranking operative in the Damascus countryside.
