SYRIZA removes Nina Kasimati from parliamentary group

Rena Dourou, president of the SYRIZA Parliamentary Group, has announced the removal of MP Nina Kasimati from the party's parliamentary group. Dourou cited Kasimati's prolonged absence from party activities, failure to participate in the election of the group's president, and lack of involvement in parliamentary oversight as the primary reasons for this 'political and institutional decision.'

Dourou also issued a deadline to Olga Gerovasili, who previously announced her departure from the party, requesting that she formally resign from the parliamentary group and surrender her seat by August 24, coinciding with the resumption of parliamentary sessions.

As part of a broader organizational reorganization aimed at strengthening the party, Dourou has issued an open call for independent MPs previously elected under the SYRIZA banner to return to the group. The party is currently engaging in discussions with several independent lawmakers to bolster its parliamentary presence.
