Apple and Google lead updates in mobile software and foldable markets
Apple is introducing software updates for iOS, including enhanced Liquid Glass transparency controls that allow users to adjust the level of transparency in settings. The Apple Wallet app is also gaining new functionality, enabling users to create digital tickets and loyalty cards directly within the application.
In the foldable smartphone market, Google’s Android ecosystem lead, Sameer Samat, welcomed Apple’s entry with the iPhone Duo. Samat noted that Apple’s involvement could increase interest in the entire category, which has been dominated by Android devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series. While Apple holds an advantage in app optimization, Google is working to improve developer tools to ensure better app compatibility for foldable screens.
Additionally, the social media platform X is expanding its ‘Under the Hood’ transparency tool. The update will inform users if their posts have had their visibility reduced due to government requests or legal requirements, helping to identify instances of content filtering or shadowbanning.
