Russian official luxury property investigations
Overview
Investigations by the Alexei Navalny Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) have highlighted luxury property transfers involving high-ranking Russian officials.
Reports indicate that Ella Pamfilova, head of the Russian Central Election Commission, was granted a 237-square-meter luxury apartment in Moscow for free in June 2024. The property, located on Rochdelskaya Street in a building protected by the Federal Protective Service (FSO), has an estimated market value of approximately 200 million rubles (about 2.07 million euros). The FBK reports that the residence was subsequently transferred to the name of Pamfilova’s 24-year-old granddaughter, Irina Kezinova. Activists suggest the acquisition may serve as a reward for Pamfilova’s management of the electoral system.
In a separate development, investigations have also linked officials to luxury construction in Sochi. A project involving the demolition of the former ‘Bocharov Ruchey’ residence is reportedly nearing completion to facilitate a luxury villa for Vladimir Putin. This work is allegedly being coordinated by the FSO through a consortium linked to Arkadi Rotenberg, with the demolition of the original 1955 structure cited as a response to security concerns regarding Ukrainian drone attacks.
