Szárszó Reformed Conference explores AI and faith
The Reformed Conference in Szárszó, held from August 13 to 16, focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence, digitalization, and the Christian faith. Under the theme ‘Soul and Algorithm,’ participants explored how AI impacts education, pastoral ministry, and children's screen time.
Organizers aimed to examine both the potential benefits of AI and the necessary boundaries for its responsible use. During the opening, chief organizer Zila Gábor noted that views on AI range from seeing it as a digital manifestation of the devil to viewing it as an essential modern achievement.
Pastor András Gér described AI as both a tool and a mirror, suggesting that its use reveals human perspectives on intelligence, knowledge, and responsibility. Gér emphasized that while tasks can be delegated to technology, responsibility cannot, and cautioned that speed, persuasiveness, or efficiency do not inherently equate to humanity, truth, or wisdom.
