t Tapperijke' in Hoeven closes after 40 years of operation
The historic tavern ’t Tapperijke in the town of Hoeven shut its doors for the last time on 25 July 2026, ending a four‑decade run by owners Kees Broos and his wife Anja. The couple spent the final day clearing out furniture and hosting a farewell reception for local clubs and older patrons, recalling countless memories from the bar’s history.
During the evening the venue held one more celebration before formally handing the keys back to the municipality of Halderberge on 1 September. The Broos family was honored as “Heroes of Halderberge” by the local council, receiving a special commendation from councilor Thomas Melisse for their contribution to the community.
The closure marks the end of a local cultural fixture that has hosted generations of residents, even as two tragic deaths in the bar’s past linger in the owners’ recollections.
