Tadej Pogacar wins stage 10, widens Tour de France 2026 lead as rivals struggle

On the mountain stage from Aurillac to Le Lioran (Stage 10, 166.6 km) Slovenian rider Tadej Pogacar claimed a solo victory, extending his overall lead to 3 minutes 36 seconds over Jonas Vingegaard and 32 seconds over Remco Evenepoel. The win marked Pogacar’s third stage triumph on Bastille Day and his 24th career Tour stage win, solidifying his position in the yellow jersey.

Mexican Isaac del Toro, who had been third overall and wore the white jersey for the best young rider, fell to seventh place after finishing eighth on the stage, with Juan Ayuso taking over the white jersey. The stage also saw notable time losses for Vingegaard and other challengers.

Riders criticized the accommodation provided by the Tour organizers, with complaints about rooms lacking air‑conditioning and cleanliness, highlighted in a video posted by Norwegian Anders Halland Johannessen. Pogacar later warned he narrowly avoided a crash after a water bottle was left on the road during Stage 11.

Former world champion Luc Leblanc commented that national bias might influence public perception of Pogacar’s dominance, while former champion Alberto Contador warned that Vingegaard’s recent performances could jeopardise his own title chances. Stage 11 (Vichy‑Nevers, 161.3 km) is set as a flat sprint stage, with teams expected to control the race.

The race is broadcast live on various networks and streaming platforms across Europe.
