Tady Vary expands cinema network for 2026/27 season

The Tady Vary film project is expanding its reach for the 2026/27 season, with its network of participating cinemas growing to 77 locations across the Czech Republic. The project reports a 55 percent year-on-year increase in pre-sales.

Artistic director Karel Och stated that the selection process aims to balance uncompromising auteur quality from major international festivals with films that offer audience appeal. The upcoming program includes several notable titles:

• ‘Milovník, ne bojovník’: A Czech-Slovak film by debut director Martina Buchelová, which won the Proxima award at Karlovy Vary. • ‘Fjord’: A drama from a Romanian director concerning a family's struggle with the Norwegian social services agency, Barnevernet. • ‘Wild Wild Horses’ (Divoký kůň Devítka): A black comedy by Martin McDonagh starring John Malkovich, set in the 1970s on Easter Island. • ‘Behemoth!’: An American drama by Tony Gilroy. • ‘Josephine’: A Sundance hit starring Channing Tatum.
