Tahsildaroğlu cheese recalled after Listeria detection in Turkey

Turkish authorities confirmed that a batch (lot 290625) of Tahsildaroğlu Olgunlaştırılmış Klasik Kırık Beyaz Peynir was contaminated with *Listeria monocytogenes*. The finding came after a consumer complaint to the Alo 174 food‑hotline, prompting the Kocaeli Food Control Laboratory to test a sample taken from supermarket shelves. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry ordered the immediate removal and destruction of the affected cheese and imposed an administrative fine on the producer.

Tahsildaroğlu announced that the product was produced on a separate line, that extensive inspections were carried out at 37 points in its plant, and that subsequent analyses found no *Listeria* in other batches. The company affirmed compliance with national regulations and international food‑safety standards, and it warned consumers, especially pregnant women, the elderly and immunocompromised individuals, to avoid the recalled product. Food‑safety experts highlighted that *Listeria* can survive at refrigerator temperatures and warned of cross‑contamination risks in shredded or broken‑cheese products.

The recall affects only the specified lot; other Tahsildaroğlu cheese products remain on the market.
