Taichung police arrest two men for brandishing firearms during TikTok live stream

Taichung police have arrested two men, identified as 43-year-old Jiang and 37-year-old Xu, after they brandished firearms during a live stream on TikTok. The incident occurred while the men were driving through Taichung, where they displayed a modified submachine gun and a handgun while making intimidating remarks, including statements such as “not afraid” and “having nothing to lose.”

Following the broadcast, the Taichung City Criminal Investigation Corps formed a task force. Investigators used technological means, including analyzing street views from the live stream and reviewing local surveillance camera footage, to quickly identify and locate the suspects. The two men were apprehended in the Beitun District.

Authorities seized one modified submachine gun and one handgun at the scene. Police reported that Jiang typically earns a living by live-streaming the sale of Buddhist ritual items. Both suspects have been transferred to the Taichung District Prosecutors Office on charges including violations of the Firearms, Ammunition, and Knives Control Act and public intimidation.
