TAIFAS Film Festival returns to Timișoara in October 2026

The fourth edition of the TAIFAS Balkan Film and Culture Festival is scheduled to take place in Timișoara from October 12 to 18, 2026. Under the theme ‘History, memory and other things’, the festival aims to explore how history is preserved through personal memories, family relationships, and shared stories.

The program includes 14 feature films, eight of which are national premieres, along with two short film programs curated by young filmmakers. The event will feature director and actor meetings, film and literary residencies, and various performances across multiple city venues.

The festival opens on October 12 at Cinema Timiș with the production ‘Maria Tănase. O poveste’ by Teatrul de Stat Constanța. Directed by Carmen Lidia Vidu, the show uses archival documents, video projections, and live music to portray the life of the legendary artist. The cinematic program continues on October 13 with the film ‘Aniversarea’, directed by Miguel Ángel Jiménez.
