Taihan Cable wins 380kV ultra-high voltage grid project in Germany
Taihan Cable & Solution has secured a turnkey contract for a 380kV ultra-high voltage power grid project in Germany. The project involves constructing an underground alternating current (AC) power grid, which is the highest voltage level for such systems in the country.
Under the agreement, Taihan's Netherlands-based subsidiary, Taihan Netherlands B.V., will oversee the overall project, including local engineering and construction. The South Korean headquarters will supply essential materials, including ultra-high voltage cables and connectors, through a contract valued at approximately 115 billion won (roughly $83 million USD).
This latest win contributes to Taihan's growing presence in Europe, where the company has secured more than 500 billion won in new orders this year alone. Previous successes include projects in the United Kingdom, Denmark, and Germany. The company aims to leverage this momentum to expand into high-voltage direct current (HVDC) and submarine cable markets to meet the increasing demand for power infrastructure driven by AI and data center growth.
