Taika Waititi Star Wars film placed on indefinite hold
Director Taika Waititi has confirmed that his untitled Star Wars film project is being placed ‘on ice’ indefinitely. The announcement came during the promotion of his new science-fiction film, ‘Klara and the Sun’.
While the project has not been formally cancelled, Waititi stated that the production is currently suspended as he and Lucasfilm work on different things. The film had been in development since 2020, following Waititi’s work on ‘The Mandalorian’.
Despite efforts to move the project forward, including involvement from Oscar-nominated screenwriter Tony McNamara, the film faced years of development delays and scheduling conflicts. This pause adds to the ongoing uncertainty regarding Lucasfilm’s cinematic release schedule.
