TaithCymru coach service to connect North and South Wales
A new coach service, TaithCymru, is set to launch on Sunday, October 25, providing a direct connection between North and South-West Wales. Operated by Edwards Coaches in partnership with Llew Jones, the service will run nine return trips daily between Bangor and Carmarthen. One late-night journey each day will extend to Holyhead railway station and Port.
Travel times are estimated between 4 hours 45 minutes and 5 hours, which is up to an hour faster than current public transport alternatives. The timetable has been coordinated with rail services, TrawsCymru, and local bus networks. Key stops include Caernarfon, Porthmadog, Dolgellau, Machynlleth, Aberystwyth University, Aberystwyth Bus Station, and Aberaeron.
To encourage usage, Transport for Wales has introduced promotional adult single fares available until January 2027. Fares include £7 from Bangor to Aberystwyth, £10 from Bangor to Carmarthen, £4 from Holyhead to Bangor, and £12 from Holyhead to Carmarthen. Coaches are equipped with Wi-Fi, USB charging, air conditioning, and onboard toilets, though passengers are advised that not all stops are fully wheelchair accessible.
