Launch of TaithCymru coach service in Wales
Overview
Transport for Wales has announced the launch of TaithCymru, a new coach service designed to connect north and south-west Wales. The service, scheduled to begin operations on October 25, 2026, will be operated by Edwards Coaches and Llew Jones.
The route will provide nine daily return trips between Bangor and Carmarthen, with stops including Caernarfon, Porthmadog, Dolgellau, Machynlleth, Aberystwyth, and Aberaeron. To support connectivity with rail and ferry services, one late-night journey per day will extend to Holyhead Railway Station and Port.
Travel times are expected to be between 4 hours 45 minutes and 5 hours, which may reduce journey times by up to 80 minutes compared to current alternatives. To encourage ridership, Transport for Wales has introduced promotional adult single fares available until January 2027. The coaches will feature amenities such as Wi-Fi, USB charging, air conditioning, and onboard toilets.
